Okay, two more game system change suggestions.

I am trying to get two of my players to be doubles partners, but I keep getting the message "Can't change doubles partner if you are in a doubles tornament or have one scheduled for next week." There are two problems with this. First, I get that message during the second week of a two week tournament, even though neither player made it to the second week. Second, I get that message during a Federation Cup week, even though neither player was selected to play in the Federation Cup. Note that the game correctly deletes the singles entry for Fed Cup when the player is not selected, but it leaves doubles selected.

Second, another travel page problem. When the game asks whether you want the player to return to the coach center after losing in a tournament, there needs to be included a note about whether the player has a tournament or qualifier scheduled for the next week AND where that tournament is located. As an example, often early in a player's career they play two or more futures in the same location in consecutive weeks. With four players to juggle it is difficult to remember whether it would be more efficient to send a player home between tournaments or to stay at the current site and travel directly to the next tournament at the start of the next week.

And another problem just popped up with the Fed Cup. When the players who actually played in the Fed Cup went to their tournament the next week, they flew from the site of the tournament from two weeks previously, rather than from the Fed Cup site.

Yes, and/or we should have the choice between A. go back home / training center - B. stay at the current tournament - C. travel to the next one (C makes sense and is more realistic, don't you think? could the engine manage that?)

yes, I had thought about letting the player go on in the match even if injured, but with penalties (and chance to get injured even more!). Targeting specific skills in association of the injury could work well in some cases.

I would love that. I hate it when a player retires while leading, sometimes one game away from victory for blisters or a bad stomach. It could be a strategic decision to make.

Another suggestion I have would be to attribute particular bonuses according to where your 'coaching location' is. E.g. if your coaching location is in Spain, you automatically get bonuses for training stamina/ if you're in america you get bonuses for training serve.

Also a thing that summarises your players results would be pretty cool too, something similar to the performance timelines that are on the wiki page (maybe limit these to grandslam/masters events).

davids96,
what is a performance timeline ?
Note: there's already Yearly Stats & Career Titles within the Coach Contract menu.

First off, manutoo, thanks for all your hard work on these games. I'm a tennis fan and a fan of management games, and so, Tennis Elbow Manager is one of my favourite games of all time.

One thing I would like to see in TEM2 is more realistic tour schedules for players. In TEM, you see top players like Federer or Nadal play lots of small 250-point tournaments, you constantly see players playing back-to-back tournaments in different continents (one week in Europe, the next week in South America), you see clay court specialists playing a hard court event one week and then missing an equally big clay court event in the week thereafter, and so on. None of this is very realistic.

Ideally: - top players should not play 250-point events, with very few exceptions (like the London and Halle grass court tournaments before Wimbledon when they were still 250 point events, or Doha at the beginning of the year)
- players should have a strong preference for tournaments located in their home region of the world (i.e. Europe) and an even stronger preference for tournaments in their home country (i.e. France)
- players should have a strong preference for surfaces that suit their style of play (the clay courters for clay, the big servers for grass and indoor courts, and so on)
- players should almost never play back-to-back tournaments on different continents (some players do that in real life, but it is fairly rare)
- players should not play too many tournaments per year; reaslistically, a top player would play the four majors, 8-9 of the Masters series events (perhaps missing one on their least favourite surface, like grass courters missing Monte Carlo or clay courters missing the Paris indoors Masters), and 4-5 500-point events; in all, that would be 16 to 18 tournaments per season

Laskaris,
all (or most?) tournament preferences are already in the game for the current week. The main issue is there's no global analysis over several weeks. As it gets much more complex to do so, I can't promise anything, but I'll look into it.

Maybe the way to make it work would be to have players choose their entire schedule for a season before the season starts - as, in fact, many players do.

At the end of every season, depending on their ranking position, players decide their schedule for the next year. Players ranked 1 to 5 would typically choose a) the four majors, b) 8 Masters tournaments (all except Monte Carlo), and c) 4-5 additional tournaments among the Monte Carlo Masters and the ATP 500 tournaments depending on their home region and / or style of play, one of which has to be after the US Open. So, looking at the 2017 calendar, a clay courter would typically choose these additional tournaments: Rio de Janeiro, Monte Carlo, Barcelona, Hamburg, and one 500-point tournament in the fall (maybe Tokyo or Beijing). A serve-and-volleyer from Europe would choose something like: Rotterdam, London Queen's Club, Tokyo or Beijing, and Basel or Vienna. An American hard court player would choose something like: Acapulco, London Queen's Club, Washington, and Tokyo or Beijing.

Players ranked 5-10 would play some 250-points tournaments in addition to the above, preferably in the weeks and on surfaces adjacent to 500-point tournaments they have already selected. Players ranked 11-50 would play even more 250-points tournaments, and players ranked below 50 would not try to get into as many Masters events, but would instead play a couple of Challenger events.

It gets a bit complex, but with the right categorisation of different tournament types and the right search algorithms to have the AI players choose their season calendar, I'm sure it could be done.
