Manutoo, I've been looking.
So, Djokovic at 1.24 in this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4iTiRvk4FHY. Look at how Nadal goes to wrong-foot him, Djoker realises, and turns instantly, getting back a lob. I concede this is amazingly difficult to replicate in a video game, but it is a possibility in real tennis. And then, at 1.27, he's literally moving left thinking the ball's going that way, and powers out of it to get to the shot up the line. It's otherworldly agility and explosiveness.
Again, Djokovic at 2.02 in the same video. Not quite the same, but watch how Djoker anticipates Fed going either to the middle of the court or backhand down the line, and then watch the instant repositioning of his feet when he realises it's coming back to him. There's no delay. He's got his weight one way anticipating a shot, brain instantly realises it's not going that way, and the readjustment is as quick as it is effortless.
Then, watch Nadal at 2.32. He pushes off to go one way, realises, and then instantly turns the other. In TE4 at the moment, that would be a winner for Djokovic after going one way and trying to reposition for the shot. At least it feels that way for me. There's a sluggishness there that IMO shouldn't be.
You could watch that entire video and see what I mean, but for another perspective:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QZSm4QoHZwYPause at 4.49 to 4.50. Nadal has started going left to get back to the middle of the court. He's played a short ball and Berdych is coming in to take it on the rise. Nadal's trying to anticipate. He moves left, and then explodes right to get to the ball. Again, even that slight movement in TE4 going one way, even with 99 speed, you're not getting to that ball. But my point is: the best players can get to that ball.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UV2s9aSyy9k. And in this one, at 1.30 to 1.31, Nadal once again weight going to the left, Federer blasts the forehand right, and Nadal changes direction and explodes towards the ball and chips it back in.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IwBCCvWRoFQ. Here, at 3.22, Djokovic going one way, realises, stops on a dime to return the backhand. Again at 3.28, Nadal plays a shot behind Djokovic. Watch how Novak realises, stops, and turns. He doesn't get it back, but damn if he doesn't make a good effort. And watch the entire tiebreak from 4.30 onwards to see some of the most incredible 'explosive' defense ever. Then, look at Novak at 12.31. The movement is so subtle, but he's going left and Nadal isn't playing it left, but he adjusts instantly.
I mean, you could watch the entire highlights of that Djokovic Nadal AO 2012 match and you'll see what I mean. It's the two greatest defensive players in the history of tennis trying to get a winner past the other. And it's like trying to find hen's teeth. It's incredible, almost alien, footwork. And that, for me, is what's missing right now from TE4. I move one way, and there's no chance of getting back, even the most subtle movements.
I hope these videos have shown what I mean. I think we need an explosive agility stat or talent because what Nadal and Djokovic make possible in the real world, isn't possible in the game.
