Not sure if it is a resolution-related bug

Postby antimouse » 22 Dec 2015, 14:13

Something's definitely not right here.
I bought a new monitor and since I started using it I can't seem to win a match anymore against player around 80% overall. Worse than that, I'm getting bageled by players against whom I always put up a fight or players I would win easily (Nalbandian, for example). This is the third loss already. Lost to Juan Monaco 6x0/6x1 (had a 2-0 record against him), lost to David Nalbandian 6x0/7x6 (had a 3x0 record against him) and now lost to Juan Ignacio Chela 6x0/6x1 (had a 1x1 record, with most recent win being mine). I couldn't possibly have become a bad player from day to night. I used to play in FullHD resolution in a monitor with max res of 1366x768. Then I started playing in FullHD in a monitor with max res 4k. I tried to play in 4k resolution to match my monitor, to no avail. Is it possible that resolution is affecting gameplay somehow? This is the only thing that changed in my setup.

EDIT: I checked my fps, it is stable at 60fps, just as before, so that's not the problem.

Hello,

it's very likely due to input lag on your new monitor.
Check for it on Google to know how much it is (everything above 20ms is problematic), and if there's any setting to lower it.

Often, not using the native monitor resolution will increase the input lag, but I'm not sure it's also the case with 4K ones.

Hey Manu!

Both my monitors are actually TVs where I plug my PC. I checked input lag, my current TV has 27ms. There's a Game Mode option to reduce this, but it didn't seem to make any difference. Anyway, I didn't find info on input lag of my previous TV, but a similar model had 44ms, so I'm not sure if that is the issue.
Well, thanks for the reply though, I just wanted to check if it could be some bug. I'll see what I can do to adapt myself, I don't wanna lower the difficulty level.

EDIT: I take back what I said. It seems Game Mode actually made a difference. I just beat Chela 6-2 in same surface as before :D It seems, according to my google research, that 27ms is the input lag with Game Mode ON. When it is off, the lag is around 115ms. That's probably why I wasn't reaching most balls lol.
