Update
After a week of hard work (just kidding, I only worked on it in my spare time) I think I've achieved a decent result
The most difficult thing was to find the images of the outfit I wanted to make, in fact I no longer have the magazines or vhs that I had at the time (35 years ago!), so I searched on the web.
I couldn't find the shoes so I chose a pair in the game that looked the closest, then for the racket I just created the logo on the strings. I also made logo cuffs and socks, and finally tweaked the face a bit but the resemblance isn't that great, it's very difficult.
For the benefit of those who are beginners like me and want to make an outfit, I will briefly explain what I did.
Of course I don't pretend that you have to do as I did, but since it's my first time and without consulting a guide because there aren't any, I left for an idea
So, given that I used Gimp as my graphics program since I'm a Linux user, and thanks to user Burned who reminded me to use the UV mapping for the shirt, here's what I did:
1) With Gimp I deleted the green "grid" of the aforementioned file on everything, then I colored all the various parts that make up the shirt in white. By doing so I created a base for let's say future shirts that I want to make;
2) Thanks to the images of the outfit found on the web, I started drawing and trying and trying again by launching the game every time to see how it turned out, and also once to find out what some parts of the shirt corresponded to;
3) Once I made the shirt (exported in .png and in a separate file) I continued with the shorts, cuffs, socks here too, deleting the "grid" if there was one, and coloring in white, always in the respective UV mapping files, and then always drawn and tested, then saved separately, always in .png files;
4) Once the outfit was finished, I dedicated myself to the racket string logo, and here I acted differently: I loaded a file of racket strings, and replaced it with my own;
5) Finally I tried to make the character look like the player, but as I said before it didn't come out so well.
Of course I said decent result, I'm not a modder, and I certainly made some mistakes, but since it's my first outfit I feel satisfied, even if to tell the truth I'm still trying to improve it because of some things, like the logo on the shirt it always comes out wrong on the game
while in the drawing it is straight.
I would like to try to make a face, but I think it's very difficult. The animations, on the other hand, are not really what, only a real modder could do them.
Anyway here's a picture of the player:
