And yes, the hunched backs are one of the reasons I have to redo the animation set if I want to use the motion matching plugin.

I very recently noticed a backhand that looked jerky ; my guess is that the default impact point is either too much in front of the player, or not enough. So it's possible that fixing the animations that have a slightly wrong impact location would help with the overall smoothness. I hope to get to it at some point.
For the stiffness on the base pose, I'm not sure ; maybe a motion-captured animation would feel more lively, but it's the exact same anim as in TE2013, so I guess the new 3D player models looking less blocky & more realistic play a role in the perception there.

normally, the player will turn around when they start to run back when standing at the net, or at least do side-steps back when required.
